Dawn Mancarella, a member of EJUSA’s Crime Survivor Network, put out a special appeal today for family members of murder victims to sign on to suspend use of the death penalty in a key Florida county.

If you’ve lost a family member to murder, read Dawn’s letter below and consider taking action. If you know of others who might like to sign, please share this post.

Dear friend,

I know the horrible pain of losing a loved one to murder. My mom, Joyce Masury, was murdered 20 years ago, and my life has never been the same.

You’ve identified yourself to EJUSA or an EJUSA state partner as someone who has experienced this same unimaginable horror. So you understand where I’m coming from.

Today, I am signing an open letter for families like us calling for an end to the death penalty. Would you like to join me?

California: Stop experimenting with lethal injection!

CA-LI-Action-graphic

Thank you so much to everyone who has written to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) about the flaws in their proposed lethal injection procedures. Thousands of comments have been submitted, calling on California to leave executions is the past – where they belong.

There is still time for you to speak out. The deadline for comment has been extended, so tell CDCR that you oppose their fundamentally flawed proposals for executions.

Anyone can weigh in – even if you don’t live in California and regardless of your age, citizenship, or voter registration status.

Georgia refused to listen. Share your outrage.

Thank you so much for your letter last week to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles. Thanks to people like you, we generated over 650 letters to stop an execution tainted by racial bias and a sleeping lawyer.

Georgia refused to listen. Kenneth Fults was executed last night for the 1997 killing of Cathy Bounds.

This is a stark reminder that the death penalty is broken beyond repair.

Share your outrage on Facebook and Twitter so your friends and followers can learn the truth and join us in the fight to end the death penalty.

Urgent: Tell Congress not to cut victims services

#DontCutVOCAWe need your urgent action to help save critical funding for victims services.

Every year, Congress sets a level of spending from a fund known as VOCA. These are not tax dollars. Many of these funds go to community groups to support vital services like trauma intervention and counseling for people who have been harmed by crime and violence.

Act now to halt execution in Oklahoma

Richard Glossip

Time is running out for Richard Glossip.

In less than 24 hours, Glossip is scheduled be executed, despite mounting evidence of his innocence.

Call Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin now, and ask her to stay the execution to allow for further investigation. Her phone lines are being flooded, but she needs to hear from you that this execution should not go forward.

Governor’s main office number: (405) 521-2342

Governor’s voicemail for comments: (405) 522-8857

The pending execution has generated a huge outcry from all over the world. From Sister Helen Prejean, to former Dallas Cowboys Coach Barry Switzer, to Virgin mogul Richard Branson, to conservative US Senator Tom Coburn, to actress Susan Sarandon – even a juror from the original case came forward to say he wouldn’t have voted to convict Glossip if he’d had all the evidence that is currently available.
