Lawmakers across the country are reconsidering the death penalty, and things are really heating up in Delaware. Legislation to repeal the death penalty has already passed the Senate, and tomorrow, debate moves to the full House floor. If passed, it will go to the Governor, who has promised he will sign the bill.
Floor debate will start tomorrow at 2pm Eastern. You can listen live here or follow the action on Twitter. We will be live-tweeting at @EJUSA and using the hashtag #DERepeal.
More states heating up
While Delaware is in the home stretch, other states are not far behind. Tomorrow, lawmakers in New Hampshire will hold a hearing on a repeal bill, and a group of more than 17 Kansas legislators and a recent exoneree will officially launch the repeal campaign at a Capitol press conference. And in Missouri yesterday, a legislative committee passed a bipartisan repeal bill.
