Leave a legacy

Making a lasting difference in lives and communities may be easier than you realize.

With very simple language in your will, or by naming Equal Justice USA (EJUSA) as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or bank account, you can ensure that our impact together continues. In order to make a bequest, you should speak with your attorney.

Bequests of any size to EJUSA will ensure a lasting legacy of justice and healing.

Here are some ways that you can make a legacy gift to EJUSA:

  1. Include EJUSA in your will or trust.

When you are ready to create or amend your will or trust, simply share this sample bequest language with your attorney. This will help ensure that EJUSA's correct legal name appears in all final documents:

I give, devise and bequeath to Equal Justice USA, 44 Court St #1217 #1001, Brooklyn, NY 11201, Nonprofit Tax ID: 26-1316408 the sum of $ _______.

    or

_______% of the residue of my estate.

    or

_____ shares of stock/____% of my partnership interest/____% of my limited liability company interest in _______________ (name of company).

  2. Name EJUSA as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or bank account.

You will need the following information for the paperwork: Equal Justice USA, 44 Court St #1217 #1001, Brooklyn, NY, 11201; Nonprofit Tax ID: 26-1316408

Potential tax benefits

If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift may be entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the full amount of the bequest.

If you make a gift to EJUSA from your retirement plan, there could be substantial income tax savings as well.

Of course, you are encouraged to seek the advice of your tax advisor before making any bequest.
