Emma Weisfeld-Adams

John J. Donohue, a researcher with the National Bureau of Economic Research, calls the death penalty system “hopelessly broken.” Citizens in his state, California, will get a chance to vote on the system in November.

“We have the chance to prevent innocent people from being executed, end the unfairness that pervades the current system, and save millions in tax revenues, all while improving public safety,” says Donohue. His piece in the California Progress Report urges them to take it.
