Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty

Montana’s “Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty” group has launched a new website.
Included on the site is a list of local and national conservatives who question the death penalty, from local legislators to Congressman Ron Paul and Kansas Governor Sam Brownback.
Karen Pfahler, the former vice chair of the Montana Republican party, is among them. She says that she celebrated when Montana’s State Senate voted to pass repeal of the death penalty because she believed it reflected conservative values “to be efficient and judicious with taxpayer dollars.” In Pfahler’s words, “If there was ever a government program that doesn't work, the death penalty is it.”
EJUSA organizer for Montana, Sarah, says, the new website demonstrates not only “how broadly repeal is favored in Montana,” but also “how many people on both sides of the aisle are just not happy with the death penalty system.”
