Gov. Brian Sandoval recently vetoed a bill to investigate the cost of Nevada's death penalty as it compares to a system of life without parole.

This letter by the President of the Nevada Coalition Against the Death Penalty asks why, when states like Florida and North Carolina have found they could save millions through death penalty repeal, Nevada should be denied the opportunity to know how much they are spending.

In these times of budget cuts and other fiscal woes, can Nevada afford to put its heads in the sand? Nevada's state senate and house clearly didn't think so. Why should the governor stand in the way?
