Services to State Partner Organizations

In order to maximize our resources in providing support to state campaigns, EJUSA identifies states at a variety of levels in which to invest and increases that investment over time, as the relationships and opportunities grow. For any given state, we may provide one or all of these services:
  • Training in strategy, grassroots organizing, campaign coordination, communications and media, message development, lobbying, outreach to key constituencies, and more. Every one of our workshops is custom-tailored to the needs of the state.
  • Strategic planning ranging anywhere from an hour to three day retreats. Many consultants charge hundreds of dollars an hour for this work. We provide it to state campaigns free of charge!
  • Assistance with outreach to new stakeholders such as family members of murder victims, victims' advocates and service providers, law enforcement, and those with a variety of political ideologies.
  • Help with outreach and mobilization of the grassroots, developing and disseminating action alerts to EJUSA members and recruiting other national groups to do the same.
  • Developing public education materials, including writing, research, and design.
  • Our cutting edge, online organizing platform, customized for death penalty campaigns and provided to states free of charge so they can track and mobilize their supporters, legislators, and volunteers, and monitor actions taken.
  • Campaign coordination, acting as a liaison between state staff, volunteers, and consultants and keeping everyone on task, so that the folks on the ground can concentrate on implementing their pieces of the plan instead of managing it.
  • Rapid response development. When big news breaks or the plan takes a turn we didn’t expect, the team has to come together quickly and figure out what changes to make and how to respond so that the goal can still move forward. EJUSA often facilitates this process and provides our own expertise in figuring out how to take the most advantage of every new twist and turn.
  • Sharing lessons learned across state lines, so that state organizations can learn from each other.
  • Helping state groups transition from volunteer-run to professional, staffed organizations with functional boards through board training, organizational development coaching, hiring assistance, and more.
  • Financial assistance and training in fundraising, budgeting, and development planning.
  • One-time or ongoing advice and coaching in any area of organizing, strategy, campaign development, or organizational development.
