EJUSA is a national leader in the movement to end the death penalty in the United States. We have played a key role in some of the nation’s most exciting campaigns, including the ones that ended the death penalty in New York and New Jersey. We have several major campaigns coming in 2011 and you can be a part of them.

We are seeking a sharp, dedicated intern to conduct research, create and archive materials, and develop new resources to support our state campaigns.

Position Description:
Specific responsibilities will include some mix of the following tasks:
• Conduct research on a variety of topics related to the death penalty, and state legislatures
• Create and revise factsheets, flyers, and other materials for state campaigns
• Prepare data for import into EJUSA’s customized database
• Participate in the drafting of press releases, newsletter articles, action alerts, and breaking news stories
• Assist with phone banking and outreach to help state campaigns
• Participate in other tasks as needed

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 14 hours per week.

This internship is unpaid. Course credit may be available.

Qualifications:

The intern(s) should be committed to the repeal of the death penalty and interested in working both independently and part of a fun, committed team.

This internship requires strong writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills.

The intern(s) should be creative, results-oriented, self-directed, reliable, flexible, and committed to the internship.
